& Camping Park
Welcome to Forest Glade|
FOREST GLADE COUNTRY HOLIDAY PARK is a small country estate owned and managed by Freda and Norman Wellard which has been developed into a top class holiday retreat situated on the Blackdown Hills, recently designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The park consists of ten acres of flat, rich grassland set in three hundred acres of pine forest sheltered from the wind from all directions. It is ideally situated for all types of mobile holiday accommodation for guests who prefer an inland natural wooded park giving space, freedom and peace in one of the few undiscovered parts of the West Country. The walks through the forest are captivating all year round with deer to be seen for the early risers.
Forest Glade is open during early spring and autumn for those who prefer to see the seasons’ changing colours and throughout the summer we offer space, freedom and adventure. The free indoor heated swimming pool and the adventure play area keep the children amused for hours.
A fully equipped shop stocks most, if not all, your requirements including daily papers, stamps, fresh locally made bread and pastries. Our off-licence section stocks a variety of beers and wines suitable for a relaxing dinner or the barbecue. Alternatively you may wish to select from the Take-Away Menu available during the evenings, except Sunday.
Within a few minutes drive there are several thatched village inns serving excellent liquid refreshments, including locally brewed real ales, and a variety of appetising inexpensive food for all ages.
PITCHES in our touring park for your mobile holiday accommodation are large, flat, sheltered and well drained. Electricity is available on the majority of pitches and an electric camping lights hire service allows you additional lighting facilities. Tents and motor caravans are welcome. Touring caravans must book in advance; a telephone call is acceptable when the access route will be given.
On Site Facilities
FACILITIES at Forest Glade include a new central, modern, heated, facilities building containing ample toilets and wash hand basins with hot water, showers, hair and hand dryers, all designed with comfort in mind. The disabled visitor is equally well catered for with a specially designed unit containing WC, low level wash basin and shower.
The complex houses a laundrette with modern automatic washing machine and drier. Washing up sinks are also provided. Mother and baby are not forgotten - a room with bathing and changing equipment is provided for our youngest guests.
The highest standards of cleanliness are maintained throughout the park for your comfort and enjoyment. Because of its setting Forest Glade has no organised evening entertainment, leaving our visitors free to enjoy the many attractions locally or the facilities of the park. The free indoor heated swimming pool, probably our most popular facility, is open for the Easter holiday and from early May onward to late September, and again for half-term holidays in October. There is an adults-only hour from 7.30 or 8am daily, depending on the season. Enjoy a game of tennis on our all-weather court, bookable at reception.
