Oakdown has long been known as a retreat for discerning country lovers. Set amidst the spectacular coast and countryside of the “Jurassic Coast” World Heritage Site and within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the beautiful Weston Valley and much of the coastal path are National Trust property. The area abounds with a wealth of wildlife, quiet beaches, history and geology which the discriminating visitor can explore from this ideal holiday base.

We welcome touring guests with Touring Caravans, Motor Caravans, Tents and Trailer Tents who have a choice of either a standard pitch or a fully serviced 'super' pitch. We also have Caravan Holiday Homes to let and some that are privately owned.

Touring Amenities
De-luxe, centrally heated tiled amenities include a baby area, showers and bathrooms (one with some aids for the disabled) and all enjoying FREE hot water. The entrance hall provides a comprehensive information area, dish washing facilities-FREE hot water, a deep freeze and microwave for general use and a coin operated laundry.

Play Area
Our centrally positioned play area has a sand pit, swings, climbing frames and an embankment slide. Our pride and joy is a fantastic play tower-this gives hours of play pleasure, all on a safe sand surface.

A Games room is set aside in our amenity building for those wishing to watch TV, play pool, table football and computer games.

Internet Access Kiosk
Computer Internet terminals and internet laptop connections.

Storage
To meet increasing demand, caravan storage is now offered throughout the year. Why not leave your touring caravan with us? We offer a summer and/or winter season rate or a daily rate and all within a fully alarmed compound and we offer a towing facility too!

Country Garden
Imagine lying in the warm sunshine, buzzards wheeling overhead, butterflies basking on the wild flowers and song birds nearby serenading you-That's Oakdown! For over thirty years Oakdown has been carefully fashioned by the Franks Family, from the open Devonshire meadowland to its current award winning standard. No straight lines here, just gentle curves, spacious groves, seclusion, privacy and peace and quiet. Thousands of trees and shrubs have been carefully planted and tended - marvelous for our wildlife all year round. Each year sees many birds, including Goldfinches, nesting on the park and our winter resident and visiting wildlife now enjoy fruit from over twenty varieties of our trees and shrubs. Our grass is kept beautifully mown, our floral displays are, we are told, a delight to behold and our climate is wonderfully mild.

Field Trail
Unique! - Oakdown's own field trail, lined with avenues of trees and Devon banks, leads across meadows to the world famous Donkey Sanctuary. The trail is a wild flower and bird lovers dream - a wonderful level stroll for all the family and dogs too!

Sidmouth
Sidmouth, floral town of Europe, lying between high rose coloured cliffs and wooded hills, still retains its Regency and Victorian charms. Seasonal floral displays in the well known Connaught Gardens and throughout the picturesque streets enhance the pleasure of shopping within the town. Enjoy safe family bathing from the main beach or the sea-washed sands at Jacobs ladder.

The secret of Oakdown lies in the fact that the ordinary pursuits of holiday making can be enjoyed in an area which is not and never is likely to be spoilt. We invite you to join our ever-growing number of regular guests who return year after year.

Oak Mead Golf
Oak Mead Family Golf and Recreation Area is immediately opposite Oakdown to the west - the meadow which has the Field Trail leading to the Famous Donkey Sanctuary on its northern boundary and our Victorian Reed Bed and Bird Hide in the south west corner. Oak Mead has been planned from the very start as a family attraction and is open all year. The course is a 9 hole par 3 and 748 yards long.

All holes have a floral name (to complement all the trees that mark the groves on Oakdown). Try your skills on Honeysuckle Bank, First Foxglove, Daisy Chain or Marigold Dip - excitingly near the landscaped lake!

Trees have been planted, two wild flower areas sown and a dewpond is being developed. The seeds are sown, the mowers are a-moving and our lovely warm weather is helping to bring the course to perfection. The adjacent recreation area will be for families to enjoy games, picnics and old fashioned family fun.

Oak Lodge, our New Golf reception/cafe offers a warm welcome, somewhere to relax and enjoy refreshments as well as free equipment hire, no dress code or booking required unless arranging a private group function.

Where We Are
From M5 junction 30 at Exeter, follow the A3052 eastwards through Newton Poppleford to Sidford. Proceed for another one and a half miles towards Lyme Regis and take the second Weston turning at the Oakdown sign on your right.
