Things to do around East Devon

The house at Cricket St Thomas - famous for for being the setting for 'To The Manor Born'Cricket St. Thomas - probably most famous for being the setting for 'To The Manor Born' is a wonderful setting and is only 20 minutes from Red Doors by car.

We recently packed a picnic and enjoyed an open air
evening of 'Music from the Movies' at Cricket St. Thomas with a fantastic firework finale.

Honiton
- A busy market town famous for its lace

Branscombe
- On the coast a short drive away, Branscombe is easily one of the prettiest villages in Devon. The Mason's Arms on The Square is probably the most picturesque pub you will ever see.

Sidmouth
- Small Regency-style resort flanked by striking terracotta Red Sandstone cliffs. Home of the Sidmouth International Festival of folk and world music which draws big names and international interest every August.

Seaton - Delightful small resort on south coast. In Summer, the Seaton Tramway runs along the Axe estuary (good for birdwatching) about 4 miles to Colyton. Above the town and to the East, the coast path runs all the way to Lyme Regis along what is known locally as The Landslip - a step in the cliff that is a natural haven for wildlife.

Exeter - Busy historic city with plenty to do for the whole family.

Lyme Regis - in Dorset, but within a short drive. Famous for 'The Cobb' - a long harbour wall that runs out into the sea - Lyme was the setting of the book and film 'The French Lieutenant's Woman'. It is also well known for its fossils and shells.
