The cliffs show a range of geological features, including classic folding of the strata. 1 mile from the small village of Welcombe, with a shop and post office and pottery, Old Smithy Inn (now reopened under new ownership), 11th century St Nectan's Church and the ancient St Nectan's Well, from which the village gets its name. Regrettably, the Hartland bakery has now closed.
