do not bring your own accommodation with you, why not stay in one
of our self catering, stone-built chalets. These all have a shower,
toilet and fully-equipped kitchen. A colour television and heater
provide a home away from home at any time of the year. When you
have to supply your own catering needs, the shop has a huge selection
of goods.

Everything from all those little things you forgot to bring, to daily
supplies of fresh milk, bread and eggs. A public telephone box is near
the shop.
If you wish to bring your pets, dogs are quite welcome on the site -
on leads! An exercise field is well signposted where our canine friends
can be let off their leads for a carefree romp.
Higher Longford Farm nestles on one of the gentle
foothills immediately beneath Dartmoor. You may never wish to use your
car whilst on holiday, preferring instead to explore the moorland paths,
lanes and pretty rivers.
However, nearby is Tavistock (2.5 miles) a charming and ancient Stannary
town. Its individual shopping arcades and frequent markets are well
worth visiting. There is also a leisure pool offering fun for all the
family.
The City of Plymouth is only a mere 13 miles away for that shopping
trip, or a whole range of attractions from the historic sights of the
Barbican and Plymouth Hoe to the modern and influential Theatre Royal
and the Pavilions leisure centre, which offers something for everyone
in all weathers. Plymouth also has a fine selection of restaurants and
night spots for your enjoyment .
Princetown, the home of the historic Dartmoor Jail, is about five miles
away. Also here is the National Park's main visitor centre and one or
two rather good pubs.
If you are a sportsman, several golf courses are local to the area and
also fishing can be enjoyed in the local streams or coarse fishing in
the private lake nearby.

How to find us
Higher Longford Farm is on the B3357 road to Princetown, 2.5 miles
away from Tavistock, just before the hill. |
A friendly welcome awaits you throughout
the year. You can enjoy the benefits of staying on a small family-run
park which prides itself upon providing a natural and well maintained
environment for campers and caravaners away from commercialisation.
The children can also expend their energies in our play area, or on
the park as a whole, in the ample space available.
An evening on the site can be enjoyed in the restaurant, which caters
for all tastes serving hot foods, vegetarian dishes and, of course,
childrens portions. Take-away food is also readily available .
Our licensed bar and family room will allow you to relax and is only
a short walk from your accommodation.
There is lots to do and see in the area. The seaside is about an hour
away and of course the National Park surrounds us. Explore the marvellous
wild expanse of Dartmoor with its myths, legends and mysterious happenings!
A short stroll will whet your appetite to experience more - maybe on
one of the guided hikes arranged by the local National Park Ranger,
or you could try the fascinating Dartmoor challenge of Letterboxing.
If you wish to take it a little easier, trek over the moor on horseback
from one of the nearby riding stables. Many sights can be enjoyed by
using the road system over the moors, ideal for hiking as well as driving
your car. These roads can take vou to many villages and places of interest
throughout the moor. But please remember to drive carefully there are
many famous wild Dartmoor ponies running free.
