Barbican Glassworks

The Barbican Glassworks in Plymouth - the newest visitor attraction in the West Country.

Located in the beautifully restored Victorian fishmarket - right alongside the historic Barbican harbour, Dartington Crystal have enhanced a site of international importance. Only yards away, the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for America and Captain Cook set off to discover Australia. Nearby, on The Hoe, Sir Francis Drake played bowls before embarking on his famous victory over the Spanish Armada.

The exciting Visitor Centre currently hosts an exhibition focusing on the traditional and changing face of Sutton Harbour and the Barbican. A journey through the centuries, it shows Plymouth's rich seafaring, fishing and trading history.

Barbican Glassworks includes a studio where visitors can watch from close quarters as skilled glass blowers demonstrate their centuries old craft. A team of expert glass blowers demonstrate glass making techniques which have remained virtually unchanged for hundreds of years.

The large retail shop offers an exquisite range of great value gift ideas including glassware made in The Studio, Wedgwood China, Stuart and Waterford Crystal and, of course, a comprehensive range from The Dartington Crystal Collection.
